ABOUT
ROBBERG BEACH HOUSE The Nature Reserve has great walks with countless views of truly African splendour. Perched on a sand dune covered with 'fynbos' (the local indigenous evergreen bushes) on the beach, Robberg House is a modern split-level creatively designed house, tastefully furnished for beach style living. It has its own path down to the beach and an outdoor private bush shower with its own great views! DETAILS The house consists of two separate parts, the Main House and a self-contained Annex above the three car garage. The Annex has a modern kitchen and bathroom, two outside balconies and a fireplace. It sleeps two adults and two children in the wide window alcoves. A well maintained lawn and garden with indigenous flowers, shrubs, creepers and trees separates the Annex from the Main House. The Main House is on two levels. It is entered on the upper level and consists of the main bedroom en suite with sweeping views of the bay from all windows, including the unique shower! The guest 'powder room', study, lounge, scullery, kitchen/dining room are all on this level with panoramic views. There are fireplaces in the kitchen and lounge and a gas heater in the study, for cold winter nights. A sound system and TV’'s are in the study and lounge. On the large front balcony there is a built-in barbeque under the covered roof area, and built-in seating with the BEST SEA VIEW IN SOUTH AFRICA. There is a second smaller back patio off the kitchen and dining area, with a pizza oven and comfortable seating, that catches the late afternoon sun and offers a view of the rocky buttress of the Nature Reserve. Downstairs there are three en suite bedrooms all with great views and their own access to the garden and path down to the beach. All the bedrooms have electrically operated ceiling fans and the bathrooms heated towel rails. There is a large playroom with a table-tennis table, a pool table, a TV/ reading lounge area and a kitchenette with fridge, kettle, crockery, ironing board and clothes dryer. Upstairs, the modern kitchen has a two-level electric oven, separate microwave, a gas/electric combination hob, a toaster, hot tray, toasted sandwich maker, fridge with freezer and all the necessary cutlery , crockery and kitchenware. It also has a separate bar fridge and counter with glasses, decanters and corkscrews. The scullery contains the dishwasher, washing machine, electrical circuit box, broom cupboard and has an outside washing line off it in an enclosed yard. The house is in an electronically controlled entry development, has a 24 hour security system and has high walls on two sides providing the necessary privacy desired. As one takes in the views from the balcony and bedrooms, a 180 degree vista of sea and mountain presents itself to the viewer in total privacy. The general feel is one of open uncluttered spaces, allowing easy flow between the living areas and enabling the magnificent natural environment to also be part of the living areas. To illustrate, the french doors on the top balcony are folding concertina doors, allowing 100% opening up of the front of the house to the view and the sounds of the birds and the waves. Indigenous wood has been used in the finishing and furniture, while natural slate flooring, seagrass carpets, old persian rugs, fine cotton bed linen, down pillows all contribute to a relaxed but very comfortable ambience. We do request guests to refrain from smoking in the bedrooms. |
